Kia ora koutou,
There’s a lot to share this week, so let’s get straight to the links.
Deathmatch Island crowdfunding now. If you’re reading this you’re no doubt already aware, but there is just over a week left on the campaign. I couldn’t be happier with all the support, we’ve unlocked a ton of great stretch goals and we’ll probably hit a couple more yet. Do check it out if you haven’t! I’m really proud of this book, and I think it’s going to be lovely in print.
Even if you’re already backed Deathmatch Island, please watch the trailer because I spent a lot of time on it and I think it’s good.
The AGON discord has kindly made a dedicated channel for Deathmatch Island, so come on over if you want to discuss the game or ask questions.
Sam Dunnewold published the essay he wrote about Odyssey Aquatica (scroll down), from when he was a judge for The Awards in 2022. I really love this essay.
On a related note, Iain McAllister of the Giant Brain wrote a very thoughtful review of Odyssey Aquatica, after having played a full campaign of the game.
That Odyssey Aquatica campaign was recorded, and you can watch the whole thing over on Unconventional GMs. Recommended!
Unconventional GMs also ran a brilliant one-shot of Deathmatch Island.
Unrelated to self-promotion, I love this collection of maps that Dell books put on the inside cover of their mystery books in the 40s and 50s. Great inspiration.
Last but not least, I had a great chat with Craig from Third Floor Wars. We talked about my design background, influences, DMI, Odyssey Aquatica, Blades in ‘68, reality television, and more. Give it a listen! Craig’s a great interviewer.
That’s all from me — thanks again, and expect more news soon as I move on to other projects.
