Hello and welcome to this email. As we plow through March and onwards into 2023 proper, I thought it was a good time to check in with some project updates for Blades in ‘68 and Deathmatch Island.
Doskvol in the Swinging Sixties
Blades in ‘68 is an upcoming supplement for Blades in the Dark that advances the timeline one hundred years, to 968 IE. The major update this month is that I finished the detailed street map:

A quick tour:
The lightning barriers of last century have been replaced by a big bubble, a field powered by electroplasmic fusion.
The bubble is tuned to create a few hours of psychedelic artificial daylight once a day, so-called “bluetime”.
The expansion means three new districts; New Horizon (the former Lost District), the vast Bowmore Fields (that attempt to feed the booming city), and Radiance (a modernist housing nightmare built over the former Barrowcleft farms).
Six Towers has been developed into a business district, packed with office blocks and skyscrapers built on haunted foundations.
Crowfoot is the front line in a war of gentrification:
I’ve also been working on the crew sheets. As well as the Contract Killers shown above, the supplement will include:
Militants (guerillas pushing for revolutionary change)
Utopians (esoteric believers ushering in a new age)
Dealers
Heist Team
Racers
Deathmatch Island returns
The open playtest of Deathmatch Island wraps up this month, so I’ll be collating feedback and working on final revisions to the game. Alongside that, I’ll be returning to the art and atmosphere to round out the experience. Watch this space.
Miscellanea
I love these home-game session advertisements by the always-excellent Lone Archivist.
Another poem: Often the Dying Ask for a Map (relevant to my interests)
I was honoured that my first game, Odyssey Aquatica, won at The Awards a couple of months ago. I couldn’t ask for a better prize than the thoughtful comments from the judges:
The Awards are looking for submissions and judges for 2023 right now, get amongst it.
Thanks for reading!
